Nigerian view on investments and Risks
Before I start writing out about investment. I will like to clear out some issue about how Nigerians view investment. Ideally everyone should be involved in investing if you want to have a financial free life but most people are not especially in this country.
Going straight to what I want to share with you today. Though investment is just like any business that is risky or that carries an amount of risk if one want to partake of it, but I have come to discover that in Nigeria when anyone wants to go into an investment they always thinks that all the investment they make will yield maximum profit which is not true.
Sometime last year one of my friends was discussing with me about one investment he wants to go into and he was promised to get 100% in the next 30 days well you should know the answer, he lost the his money and the investment. I am not saying it is not possible but there are some things one has to look at for you to be able to invest wisely.
This is not how most people view investment has. Not all investment that you make will bring you a profit and you should always expect that to happen in any investment venture you are going into.
Also, before you can enter into any investment, you need to have done your homework about what you want invest in. this is one of the mistakes most people Nigerian get themselves in. they just invest based on speculation and this is not how it works. For example looking at the stock market, a lot of people buy shares based on speculation which is why all their investment in the market is not going up neither is it coming to few people while a lot of other people just lose their investment in the stock exchange. How many people really analyze a company’s share either through the fundamental or the technical before buying any shares? My guess is that only a selected few do so.
I will end this article by saying that whatever investment you want to go into, do your research and homework well before venturing into such as it might save you from a lot of wrong investment decision that you would have taking initially.
Your comments are welcome and please share this article with your friends and family…
Thanks
